Songs in the Key of C - Curriculum, Creativity, Community

This lively workshop introduces teachers, day-care providers, parents, librarians, musicians and non-musicians alike, to the interactive and curriculum-rich music of multiple award-winning composer and performer of original music for children, Vincent. Participants learn how to use interactive music to enhance curriculum, illustrate activities, introduce vocabulary, stimulate higher-level creative thinking and build a learning community. Vincents workshop shows how music can be the launch point for developing skills and curriculum-based activities in the early childhood classroom, playroom and center. Among Vincents songs, attendees will hear Eyes, Ears about the five senses, Shake, Shake which enhances the following of directions, We Are a Circle about the importance of families of any kind, Uncle Jonathan about recycling, and Lighthouse, which explains how people can be like lighthouses, helping each other. This workshop helps educators of all kinds become confident enough to include music in their play and lesson plans and to use this important resource to enhance both the teaching and learning of early childhood curriculum skills.

Smart Songs for Active Children
Meets Early Childhood, Music & Character Education needs: Vincent Nunes is excited to share his seventh album, Smart Songs for Active Children. Often compared to kids' music legends such as Raffi, Vincent Nunes has, since 1991, quietly forged a musical path that reflects his commitment to early childhood learning and deep respect for children's innate intelligence. Smart Songs for Active Children kicks off with a song co-written by children, 'House of Love', whose open structure allows kids to add their own activity ideas as they listen and sing along. With a classic R&B vibe, 'No One's Going to Keep Me Down', a bluesy number built around affirmation that help build character, one trail at a time, each one emphasizing a child's grit. The best teaching done in the most uncomplicated manner, and Vincent Nunes is gifted with a knack for discovering the simplest, most direct means of getting the point across through music. Professional Development Workshops for Teachers are available upon request. (PreK-2)
